Sherwood Hideaway invited us to enjoy a 4 night stay in their 2 bedroom Woodland View lodge. We want to provide you with an honest review of our stay, so you can decide if these forest lodges are for you.

What is the Sherwood Hideaway

Sherwood Hideaway is a collection of luxury holiday lodges nestled within Sherwood Forest. They provide a secluded and romantic setting which are ideal for couples, families, and close friends.

Sherwood Hideaway provides an array of lodges to suit all requirements. They provide 1-3 bedroom log cabins some of which are also pet friendly. All lodges come with a lovely private hot tub and some of them overlook the forest. The cabins are arranged at an angle for optimum privacy, so you can relax in your hot tub and admire the nature around you while enjoying your own secluded space.

These beautiful lodges feature huge windows, timber decks, hot tubs, all surrounded by the leafy forest.

Sherwood Hideaway is ideal for everyone who wants to get away from it all. There are plenty of couples enjoying the tranquility but there are families and groups of friends too. Lodges accommodation 2-6 people and some even pet-friendly, so you’ll find your suitable accommodation. There are big grassy areas around and you’ll have a gorgeous forest trail around.

The lodges feature large kitchens with an open plan, a cosy seating area around the fire as well as a large outdoor patio with a BBQ area. The location means that everyone can enjoy a relaxing time away in a luxury home away from home.

Accommodation

The smart and cosy-looking lodges are all contemporary on the inside. Expect woody and relaxed colour palettes with thoughtful decor that cleverly brought the outside in. Forest elements, a gorgeous dining table made from solid wood, and large windows overlooking the forest.

The Sherwood forest is sometimes referred to as the Robin Hood forest. Sherwood Hideaway referenced medieval times by adding stunning interior wooden fort doors with iron hinges.

The kitchen has everything you could possibly ask for to be able to make your own food. A fridge, hob, oven, microwave, and dishwasher make everything easy. There are plenty of pots and pans, cutlery and plates as well as glasses. The lodges have Nespresso coffee machines with milk frothers.

Depending on the type of lodge you book, you will have 1,2, or 3 bedrooms. We had 2 bedroom lodge with one master bedroom, featuring a solid wood wardrobe and a four-poster wooden bed. The master came with its own ensuite, with a shower room and Molton Brown products.

The spare bedroom was a comfortable-sized twin bedroom with well-sized beds and a solid wood wardrobe. Our lodge featured a main bathroom with a bathtub, bathrobes, and slippers, as well as Molton Brown products.

Our two-bedroom lodge featured a huge open-plan living area and kitchen with windows taking up almost the whole wall with stunning forest views.

What’s nearby

All paths run from your lodge to either the reception or to the entrance to the forest trail. We spent hours exploring the forest, with a clearly defined trail taking you on a leafy adventure.

There is so much to do in the area from individual parks, forest trails to historic country estates and delightful restaurants. Away from the woodlands, walks and wildlife, there are lots of other things to see and do in Nottinghamshire.

One of our favourite things to visit was Clumber Park, just a short drive away from the Sherwood Hideaway. Clumber Park is a National Trust estate with formal gardens, a gorgeous lake, tree avenues, and even a little village with shops and coffee shops.

Want to enjoy some activities in the local forest? Why not rent a bike from the reception to take on the trail before returning to your luxurious lodge and soaking in the hot tub.

Tips for an epic stay in the Sherwood Hideaway

You will get towels, robes, slippers, and complimentary Molton Brown toiletries along with some kitchen basics but you may want to consider bringing the following for your stay.

Bring Groceries – While there are some dining options around, they are all driving distance away. We recommend bringing your own food for the duration of your stay. There is ample space in the fridge and cupboards so you can safely do a weekly shop.

Bring dishwasher tablets, bin bags – A couple of dishwasher tablets were provided, to begin with. We do wish enough dishwasher tablets and enough bin bags were provided for the whole duration of our stay.

Towels to use with the hot tub – One towel per person is provided, however, it’s best to bring your own towel if you also want an extra for the hot tub. You can rent towels at reception if needed.

Bring cot linen – If you’ve hired a cot, don’t forget the cot linen.

Bring hiking shoes and waterproof – Wellies, hiking boots, wind and waterproof all should be in your luggage. You are after all, in a gorgeous English forest with unpredictable weather. But worry not the hot tub is even nicer to use during a rainy day!

Don’t worry if you forgot something – There is a supermarket just a few minutes drive from the park so you can stock up on food and essentials or you can order online and have it delivered directly to your lodge.
