Described by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, it’s easy to see why so many travellers rush to the Czech capital to enjoy all its riches. This historical capital looks straight out of a fairy tale, and it’s sometimes described as the City of a thousand spires. Prague truly is one of the most romantic cities in Europe and this is why so many couples get engaged in this city. Prague is also an ideal honeymoon destination, making it perfect for luxury seekers.

Best time to visit Prague

Prague is a brilliant city to visit year-round and each season brings something incredible to the table. Winter is magical with its Christmas markets and snowy cobblestone streets. Spring is when Prague to life and the city blooms in colour. Summers are warm with long days and vibrant evenings. And Autumn, my favourite season, is when the colours are most beautiful, with rainy evenings and foggy mornings.

The best time to visit is early summer or early autumn so you can enjoy warmer temperatures. Avoid peak summer as that’s when the city gets really crowded. If you love winter and want to enjoy the magic of Christmas, then you should aim to book your wintery holiday well in advance. Note that sub-zero temperatures are to be expected. Winter is also a great time to enjoy luxury travel to Prague as who doesn’t love flowing sparkling wine during New Year’s Eve.

If you want luxury but on a budget, then January and February are the best months for you as prices will be the lowest.

Luxury in Brno

Brno is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic located in the South Moravia Region. The city has been designated as a City of Music in 2017 and its functionalist Villa Tugendhat has been included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. There’s plenty to see and do in Brno, including the superb Špilberk castle and fortress and the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on Petrov hill.

Brno is fast-changing and quickly becoming a popular tourist destination in the Czech Republic. Prices are still reasonable and there’s plenty of luxury options for the sophisticated traveller. One thing is for sure, Brno is incredible with its culinary scene, ranging from fine dining options, through wine bars to creative beer spots.

Beautiful city of Brno at night

Best time to visit Brno

Brno is located just 2h 30 min away from Prague so the climate won’t be that much different than in the capital. My husband and I have visited Brno in all seasons and autumn was by far our favourite. The winter was cold and a bit wet, we’ve not been lucky enough to experience snow in Brno. Spring was lovely, as with all European cities. There’s this nice crisp air in the morning which gets warm and comfortable by noon. It’s a good time to visit Brno if you like green and blooms.

Summer is always a good idea because of the laid back atmosphere and outdoor beer spots. But summers are very popular amongst local and international tourists so prices can go up and your favourite hotels can get booked up in advance. Autumn is by far the best time to visit. Colourful leaves, crisp mornings, sweet afternoons and cool evenings. It’s the time when you combine outdoors beer spots with indoor restaurants. Beautiful if you love the outdoors.

Luxury dining in Brno

You want to enjoy a luxury trip in Brno, right? I hear you, that’s why I’m about to recommend to you the three best fine dining restaurants. Restaurants in Brno have generally good food with great service, so you won’t go wrong if you fancy a wine bar for a small bite or a modern bistro. During our time in Brno, we specifically wanted to indulge in some of the fine dining options. The best was by far Borgo Agnese, with its interesting fusion tasting menu. And if you go there, know that it has the biggest wine cellars in the country with over 780 bottles of wine. For that alone, I believe we have a winner!

G enjoying fine dining in Brno

Borgo Agnese – It has a focus on Mediterranean food but expect a fusion with some seriously unusual dishes. The tasting menu is well crafted, affordable and delicious. The wines are exquisite as you would expect from a restaurant with over 780 wines on the offering. The staff is well trained and you can expect a fantastic night out. As a tip, we recommend booking a table fairly early and ordering the Degustation menu Grand. You’ll want to take your time and truly enjoy the night!
Location: Kopečná 43, 60200 Brno

Pavillon Restaurant – A delightful restaurant in the middle of a leafy park, makes it the ideal option for those to love a wonderful ambience. Unlike many other fine dining restaurants, Pavilion offers a la carte only, with seafood or grilled platters.
Location: Jezuitská 6, 60200 Brno

Kohout NA VÍNĚ – I love the location of this restaurant because it’s in the showcase rooms of Brno’s House of Arts. Known primarily as a wine bar, expect over 200 wines on the menu, so plenty to pick from. The star attraction is the coq au vin, a French speciality which you are going to fall in love with. The restaurant has a tasting menu in place with wine pairing available as well.
Location: Malinovského nám. 2, 60200 Brno

You know how to enjoy a luxurious trip to Prague and Brno. Why not combine both cities in one visit? With elegant accommodation and so many fine dining options, you’ll never be short of things to experience in either city. We love both Prague and Brno and we recommend that you spend at least 3 nights in each. Planning on spending longer in Prague?
