What are the You Could Travel cool t-shirts
What are cool t-shirts anyway? Funny designs? Awesome cut? We think cool t-shirts are those well-tailored, 100% organic cotton, made in a sustainable factory with awesome designs on them. We love to travel, so we were inspired by the natural beauty around us to create a collection which tells a story. Our story is that of an endless adventure, whether you like to travel to the beach or want to challenge the highest mountains. We also learned from our travels, that cool t-shirts are those made from great materials which resist the test of time and don't become unusable after just a few washes. A cool t-shirt is your companion you can wear on those amazing summer evenings, on a vibrant night out with your mates or during your hike in the Alps. And for that, your cool t-shirt needs to be made out of cotton, because a cotton t-shirt is breathable and doesn't retain odours like oil-based fabrics.
100% Organic Cotton T-shirts
Ok, we've been telling you that your travel clothing should be made of cotton. Here are some reasons why you want to only purchase cotton t-shirts and cotton clothing in general.
Cotton is breathable and doesn’t retain odours like oil-based fabrics which means you can wear them a couple of times before washing. This comes in handy during a long trip somewhere, especially because who loves doing laundry, right? Moreover, you’ll save money, water and energy, and help your clothes last even longer. Seems like cotton t-shirts should get on your travel shopping list.
Another great thing about cotton is that you can incorporate it into your daily wear as well as evening wear. Cotton is super versatile and it doesn't have to be just white. It can be coloured into any cool t-shirt you want. Our designs come in different colours for you to pick your favourite.
Cotton is strong and tough. This means you can rely on your clothes times and times again. Cotton is in it for the long haul and we promise that our organic t-shirts are no different. They were made by travellers for travellers.
Cotton is easier to wash and care for than other fabrics. And our 100% cotton t-shirts don't bend out of shape and don't stretch because there is 0% spandex in them. No sagging, no bagging and no stretching. Just a lovely cotton t-shirt you can enjoy during travel time.
Travelling to a colourful country where everyone in your accommodation loves to cook a variety of dishes at the same time? That's cool because cotton doesn't actually soak up odours.
And hey, there is nothing better than cotton t-shirts, except 100% organic t-shirts like the ones in our collection.
Our Sustainable Clothing: The Teemill Journey
Sustainability refers to the need to develop the sustainable models necessary for both the human race and planet Earth to survive. Fashion is a $1.2 trillion global industry and wanted to tap into the market but with a new ideology: 100% organic and sustainable. And so, You Could Travel partnered up with Teemill to create the perfect blend of cool and ethical.
We believe that organic cotton t-shirts should be in every traveller's backpack. We also believe that we can bring you sustainable clothing made of quality fibres in a factory which is powered by renewable energy. And this is just the beginning, we have big plans, and for that, we want to share the beginning of our journey with you. So here is why, here at You Could Travel, we immediately fell in love with Teemill and decided to partner up with them.
Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is better for the producers and the ecosystem in which it is produced. Instead of toxic chemicals, there is one special ingredient used: cow poo. Organic cotton requires a lot of water and because this organic cotton is grown in the fields of Northern India, monsoons fill reservoirs that supply almost all the water needed. So essentially it's all about rainwater, co-planting, insect traps and the magic of cow poo.
The Cotton Factory
Our products are made in a factory where the spinning, dye, weaving, cut and sew are integrated. This factory is one of the leading socially-responsible manufacturers in India and the plant is powered entirely by renewable energy.
You are probably wondering what happens to the wastewater from the dyehouse since this is a major source of pollution in the clothing industry. Our products are dyed in what is called a recirculation system. The wastewater is settled, filtered, cleaned and used again. After settling and skimming, the water is filtered by using reverse osmosis. At the end of the process, the water is crystal clear and used for the next batch of clothing. It's a closed loop.
The UK Factory
Our clothing travels by sea freight to the UK, where they are printed on with our exciting travel designs. In the UK, Teemill owns a solar farm which powers the entire manufacturing operations. All our clothing is made-to-order. This means we never use unnecessary energy or equipment pointlessly. You order and we make the products in real time.
This enabled Teemill to focus on sustainable materials and invest into people. Their vocational training programs have helped over 40 young people on the Isle of Wight get into full-time work.
Plastic No More
According to predictions, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. We currently send our clothing in a plant-based polymer made from sugar cane. The good news is that we are replacing these with a redesigned rip and splash-proof mailer bag made out of paper.
Be Cool, Let's Hang
Did you know that 70% of the carbon emissions from a t-shirt happen during the in-use phase? That means during the washing and drying cycles. To make a difference, all you have to do is wash cool your cotton t-shirts and let them hang dry. Not only this makes a difference to our environment but also helps you enjoy your cotton t-shirt for longer. It's a win-win situation.

You Could Travel Story
We are a travelling couple from the UK, so how did we end up launching our own travel clothing collection? When we created You Could Travel, we wanted to establish a brand and not just another travel website. Our vision was to encourage others to pursue an endless adventure free from stigmas. If you could dream it, you could do it. And this is our motto. We know so many people want to travel and we want to empower them to do so. We strongly believe that a nomadic lifestyle is possible regardless of background, cultural beliefs or financial means and we motivate and encourage these experiences through storytelling and photographic essay.
Beyond travel writing and photography, we wanted to establish ourselves as a brand which values our environment. This year we made some serious changes and we also started travelling vegan. Our dream was to start creating our own travel products which are organic, vegan and sustainable. It's easier said than done, but luckily we created a friendship and partnership with Teemill, a team of creatives and visionaries who helped us make our dream come true. This is how we came to launch our first sustainable travel collection. We hope this is only the beginning.
Going forward we want You Could Travel to become an inspiring medium for travellers from all around the world interested in sustainability. We truly believe that it's not about being perfect, it's about starting somewhere and contributing to saving our planet. As travellers, we have a responsibility to educate and preserve, in order for our future generations to enjoy this beautiful and varied landscape.
We love all sort of soft adventure. We take long walks, hike off the beaten path locations and experience cultural and vegan culinary experiences. We want you to be part of our journey and help us promote sustainability for a better world and brighter future.
